Myles and I thought he was gone but actually the squirrel was on vacation for two weeks! A robin told us the Red Squirrel had gone to Cicero, Illinois for rest and recreation. I don’t know anything about Cicero, Illinois maybe for squirrels it is a lovely place to visit this time of year.
I don’t care where the Red Squirrel took his vacation. He’s back now and as mean as ever. Today, the Red Squirrel returned to the Oak Tree dumping bird seed husks down on us! Myles and I had to run fast to our porch. This time I think I saw the Red Squirrel holding a large basket. Where did he get that from Cicero?
What is the capital of Burkina Foso? Wagadoodoo. What is the capital of
Suriname? What is the capital of Tuvalu? FUNAFUTI! I know that one.
What is the flag for Ghana? What is the flag for Greece?
Which country’s capital is Lisbon? My head is swimming and
I am sweating more than usual. Lots of information to put
in my small head for the the Kickapoo Valley GEOGRAPHY BEE.
I hope when the competition is over I will have a chance to
breathe. Despite all this I love geography!
On Saturday, My Dad is going with his friends fly fishing in
the Wolf River. He said that the Walleye are running.
Running means that the fish are passing through the river
in large groups now.
I like fly fishing. I like the boots. I like wearing the
fly fishing boots in the stream near us, because they
are waterproof and so big. I like to look at all the
creatures that live in stream near us when I wear

As I mentioned to you yesterday, I am starting a Great Year LIST for
WISCONSIN FISH. I know I said I am including any Wisconsin fish I
eat in the list. Yuck! I did not think about seeing one of the fish
on my list carried away by Myles. He found a dead,
ORANGE SPOTTED SUNFISH by the side of the Kickapoo River and was
carrying it around in his mouth!
I chased after Myles and told him to drop the fish, but that made him only run faster. Finally, I yelled “Yummies! Yummies!,” and he stopped
in his tracks and turned around. YUMMIES are the word we taught him for
snacks, or treats.
Myles walked up to me with the fish in his mouth and then sat politely
in front of me waiting for me to give him a snack! Then I said “Drop It!”
and he carefully let the fish fall out of his mouth onto the rocks.
I picked up the rotten fish by the tail and threw it into the river.
Today I created a list of all of Wisconsin’s fish. I want to start a Great Year project for WISCONSIN FISH too. Fish are much harder to find, but I think I can see some of them this year.
Here is my LIST of WISCONSIN FISH I would like to see
1) LAKE STURGEON
2) RAINBOW TROUT
4) ORANGE SPOTTED SUNFISH
5) NINESPINE STICKLEBACK
6) RAINBOW SMELT

I also like to eat fish so I am including any Wisconsin fish I eat on my
Last night I had the strange CHIPMUNK dream again. I was a chipmunk running through our backyard. And for some reason I decide to run up to the big glass window near our kitchen door.
As I came closer to the kitchen the sun reflected a rainbow off the window’s glass. Through the rainbow I saw Myles and my animal friends staring at me. They were in their usual spot by the glass door of our back porch. They were smiling at me and pointing. I stood on my hind legs, and sniffed the air. I then heard a hawk’s shrill call and jumped to the grass. I flattened myself out as I saw a large black shadow on the grass get larger and larger. I heard a loud THUD
and then woke up.
Very weird dream!
Last night I made my family Sweet Potato Soup with Ramp and Watercress. All of the ingredients of the soup were from our farm!
Since it is Spring the watercress and ramp are plentiful in streams.
I picked a bunch of watercress and ramp yesterday, and got three
pounds of sweet potato from our storage.
My soup was very tasty and I am going to have it for breakfest
with wild rice!
Very delicious, and I am getting hungry again thinking
about my wonderful soup.
In school today I saw a bird crawling up the side of a tree.
I thought to myself who could that be? Why that cute, little
bird was none other than a Brown Creeper! I am so happy to add
this bird to my Great Year List.
Thank you. Have a nice day!
