It is a Great Year.
I am not sure if I have seen 45 birds yet. Seeing one bird is enough
happiness for a whole day.
The prairie in the valley around my farm is so beautiful today. Everywhere I look there are flowers blooming, so many colors, pinks, purples, whites, blues, and yellows. I don’t know if my nose can survey all the flowers for my research I might sneeze a giant boulder onto our barn by the cliffs as Dad says. He thinks my sneezes might create an avalanche that comes down the bluffs onto our house. I know he is kidding but Mom’s sneezes are much worse she has a double one. She starts with a tiny, mouse-sized, sneeze that is followed by an enormous, dinosaur blast. I am sorry I got a little lost here the topic is my Smell Project.
The good new is I did get to smell the Phlox blooming in the prairie and the Lilac bushes blooming by my house. I like the smell of both flowers so it is hard to decide which one scores the highest.
I think according to my smell chart, I rank both flowers as LOVELY.
Maybe I need to redo my chart since I am ranking a lot of flowers
as LOVELY lately.
The sun is out again, and I am hearing more birds singing when I come
home from school. Myles met me by the mailbox as usual to escort
me back to our house. Today coming up our long gravel path, Myles
ran ahead of me towards the big Oak in our front yard. The Oak Tree is where the Red Squirrel lives. When I got to the tree I heard Myles growling, and saw he was face to face with the Red squirrel.
I am right the squirrel is a giant, he is almost the same size as Myles.
A couple seconds later Myles and the squirrel were nose to nose. “Oh no,” I thought what is going to happen. Then I heard a weird sound come from Myles, and it wasn’t a bark. The squirrel turned and ran up the tree.
I looked at Myles and he was sniffing the tree. I think sound I heard from Myles was a burp!
This category of Wisconsin birds is hard to spot since these guys
fly fast. Here is a checklist for you to use when you go
- Common Nighthawk
- Chimney Swift
Thank you. Have a Nice Day!
I think I have the world’s largest vinegar library. I have all kinds of vinegars in jars from A to Z. Now Kirby says he has a bigger vinegar library than I do. What he doesn’t know is that during the winter my forest friends helped me create 24 new recipes! I now have 137 different vinegars to choose from.
Some of the new recipes I think animals would like better than humans.
That is not surprising since some of the newest recipes come from muskrats, woodchucks, and a black bear. Maybe some people will not like ants in their vinegar.
Anyone one in my hometown can borrow any vinegars if they want to use a jar for dinner or lunch. My friends also borrow my recipe cards if they
like a vinegar in the library.
