Coot Imposter

Apr 19

Coots, Coots, Coots are every where. Did you ever notice that
Coots swim in large groups? Sometimes you can see over 100
Coots all together floating on a lake or big river.

Today, I spotted an imposter! Coots are always black and grey,
very stylish looking duck-type birds. But in their floating
flotilla was a black, white duck with a brownish-purplish
head. Who does he think he is? A Coot?

It was the Lesser Scaup pretending to be a Coot.
I can of course add him to my Great Year List!
