Smell Research Project

May 25

Beatrice's flower smell project

Dear Diary,

The prairie in the valley around my farm is so beautiful today. Everywhere I look there are flowers blooming, so many colors, pinks, purples, whites, blues, and yellows.  I don’t know if my nose can survey all the flowers for my research I might sneeze a giant boulder onto our barn by the cliffs as Dad says. He thinks my sneezes might create an avalanche that comes down the bluffs onto our house.   I know he is kidding but Mom’s sneezes are much worse she has a double one.  She starts with a tiny, mouse-sized, sneeze that is followed by an enormous, dinosaur blast.  I am sorry I got a little lost here the topic is my Smell Project.

The good new is I did get to smell the Phlox blooming in the prairie and the Lilac bushes blooming by my house. I like the smell of both flowers so it is hard to decide which one scores the highest.

I think according to my smell chart, I rank both flowers as LOVELY.
Maybe I need to redo my chart since I am ranking a lot of flowers
as LOVELY lately.

Cute mobiles

Aug 19

Hand made mobilesToday, my friends and I made mobiles from the recycled papers we found at the paper co-op in our town. The mobiles are so cute, and easy to make. To start, find six sheets of recycled colored paper that you like. Next, begin by drawing flowers, or trees or birds, on your colored recycled paper. Now draw some circles that are large enough to surround your cute flowers, or trees on a piece paper.

Make sure you have two pieces of paper paired together for each circle and the cute drawing you made. Now use mom or dad approved scissors and cut out your flowers or trees out. When you are done cutting you will have two flowers or trees. Cut out your circles so you have six circles. Finally, glue the two circles together and two cute flowers to each side of some used or recycled black string.

And now you have your own mobile that you made yourself!.

Happy New Chair

Jul 13

Happy New ChairToday, my dad found an old chair under the hay in our barn. I helped him clean the old dusty chair with soap and water. My Dad said we can make the old chair happy and new if we paint it in new bright colors. The old chair looked so sad but we did not want to throw it out. My father has a friend that makes milk paint in all kinds of colors. Milk paint is safe and very earth friendly. I used milk paint and painted the chair in pink, green, and purple, and some other color I forgot which one. I also painted cute flowers on and we now have a happy new chair on our porch. The End.
