A Letter from Tuvalu

Mar 28

classmatesToday was so exciting, when I got home from school my Mom gave me an envelope. It was a letter from my best friend in Tuvalu, Raita! It was great to hear from her again. She sent me a photo of her and my friends from school.

Raita asked me when I am coming home to Tuvalu again, I hope to be back soon maybe after school in the Summer. I want to invite my friends from Tuvalu to come to Wisconsin to visit me on my farm. I know they would enjoy meeting all my friends in the Kickapoo Valley, and my best friend in the U.S., Jezebel.

After I do my homework I am writing Raita a letter, and sending her some seeds I saved from my vegetable garden last year. I need to buy more stamps. I love visiting the Post Office, I like collecting American and Tuvaluan stamps. I always like to see the newest stamps available at the Post Office. My favorite stamps are the ones that have cartoons or flowers on them.

See you later!

School report on Tuvalu

Sep 17

Today was family report day. My report was on Tuvalu the country where I was born. I told my classmates about my family that lives in Funa Futi. FunaFuti is both the name of an island and the capital of Tuvalu. Tuvalu is a beautiful, tropical country made up of nine islands in the middle of the South Pacific near New Zealand and the island of Fiji. Tuvaluan people speak a language similar to the people from Hawaii and Fiji. Thank you!

Erma the cow and clouds

May 11

standing on a cow to touch the cloudsToday, I wanted to touch the clouds. The clouds’ shapes looked liked the Islands of Tuvalu. I stood up on top of Erma the cow to move the clouds with my fingers. I couldn’t quite reach the clouds Erma is very tall but not that tall.

Slideshow on the barn wall

May 05

Tuvalu Beatrice's homeOne night after dinner, my dad showed us slides of Tuvalu. Dad has a specially made, hand-powered, slide projector that Kirby’s dad made. It was cool to see bright pictures of Tuvalu on the side of our barn at night. I forgot how beautiful Tuvalu is. I pretended that I was on the beaches of Tuvalu hearing the waves.
