Jezebel’s Trout Farm

Mar 29

troutfarm Tonight we are eating fish! I love fish. My favorite place to buy fish is from my friend Jezebel’s trout farm. She lives down the hill from my farm. They raise rainbow trout on their farm as well many kinds of vegetables and raspberries. Jezebel’s Mom has a small greenhouse where she grows beautiful flowers for the tourists to buy and bring back to their gardens.

Someday Jezebel and I want to open our own flowers market we would invite farmer’s from all over the Kickapoo Valley to sell their flowers there.

I took a photograph of Jezebel’s trout farm. Did you know that it is not
proper to take a picture of the Amish people? It’s true. That is why I only photograph of farm animals, gardens, and buildings whenever I take pictures of Amish Farms for my photo album.

A Letter from Tuvalu

Mar 28

classmatesToday was so exciting, when I got home from school my Mom gave me an envelope. It was a letter from my best friend in Tuvalu, Raita! It was great to hear from her again. She sent me a photo of her and my friends from school.

Raita asked me when I am coming home to Tuvalu again, I hope to be back soon maybe after school in the Summer. I want to invite my friends from Tuvalu to come to Wisconsin to visit me on my farm. I know they would enjoy meeting all my friends in the Kickapoo Valley, and my best friend in the U.S., Jezebel.

After I do my homework I am writing Raita a letter, and sending her some seeds I saved from my vegetable garden last year. I need to buy more stamps. I love visiting the Post Office, I like collecting American and Tuvaluan stamps. I always like to see the newest stamps available at the Post Office. My favorite stamps are the ones that have cartoons or flowers on them.

See you later!

Happy Spring Wisconsin!

Mar 27

springishereToday the sun was out! The snow is melting off our roof and dripping on to our porch. We have a lot of snow around the Kickapoo Valley, so I can still use my snow
shoes.

I don’t want to forget to tell you that I am growing snow peas, lettuce, and tomatoes in my hoop houses! I am also building a terrarium that people can put on their bikes.

But the most important thing to report is Spring is here, and the Red wing Blackbirds have returned too!

Today I went up the hill behind our house and looked at Asimina my favorite tree in the whole world. She is so beautiful every season. I imagined it was Summer and I was visiting her,
with Myles, and my forest friends. I imagined she had Paw Paw fruit in her branches and that we would be bringing the harvest to our house.

The Kind Farmer Neigbhor

Oct 29

Dear Diary,

Today I watched the farmer down the street from our house walk up and down the backyard stairs that go to the bottom of a very big hill. Every time he went down the stairs he disappeared behind the green grass hill! At first, I could only see his shoulders, head and hat and then as he went down the stairs I would only see his hat until I could not see him any more. It reminded me of Tuvalu when I would play with my classmates in the lagoon and we would walk on our knees in the sand until we were underwater.

The farmer is very kind. He rents a field to my Amish friend’s family. Her family grows hay for horses in our community.

My poem about Wisconsin

Oct 26

I love my home in Wisconsin. The pretty hills, and crooked rivers, the big blue lakes, and giant green forests, I love my home in Wisconsin. The crazy animal friends, my even crazier, human friend Kirby and his stupid robot, my town, and my school mates, my neighbor Isabel and her family,
I love my home in Wisconsin.
Thank you.

Morrie the Electric Truck

May 05

missing post for Morrie the electric truck
Today my dad drove Morrie the electric truck to Madison. I of course went with him
since we do not have school this week! Morrie helped us bring fresh onions, and morels to the public market near Madison’s famous capitol square.

There were lots of farmers from all over Wisconsin at the market. Myles slept next to me on the seat on our trip. He was tired from running up and down the hills with me and Isabel.

Amish jams

May 05

I walked down the long gravel road with my dad and Myles to my friend Isabel’s farm store. My best friend Isabel, and her brother Jeb were working in their family’s store. Their mom and aunt make some very delicious jams, candy, bread and muffins. We bought three jars of jam. I of course picked my favorite mixed berry and my dad likes strawberry rhubarb jams.
