My Vinegar Library (part 2)

Apr 11

vinegars2

I think I have the world’s largest vinegar library. I have all kinds of vinegars in jars from A to Z. Now Kirby says he has a bigger vinegar library than I do. What he doesn’t know is that during the winter my forest friends helped me create 24 new recipes! I now have 137 different vinegars to choose from.

Some of the new recipes I think animals would like better than humans.
That is not surprising since some of the newest recipes come from muskrats, woodchucks, and a black bear. Maybe some people will not like ants in their vinegar.

Anyone one in my hometown can borrow any vinegars if they want to use a jar for dinner or lunch. My friends also borrow my recipe cards if they
like a vinegar in the library.

My favorite root vegetables

Jan 20

Actually root vegetables are my favorite vegetables because you can make so many kinds of food with them. Soups, salads, baked things, lasagnas, pies, empanadas, smoothies made from root vegetables are all very delicious!

So which root vegetables are the best in the whole world? It is obvious that these five are the top of all top vegetables: 5. Turnip 4. Radish 3. Carrot 2. Diakon 1. CELERIAC!

The best thing about root vegetables is that you can buy them from a farm near you! These veggies are very strong and last very long time when you store them in a cool place like a root cellar. So buy some now!

What are your favorite vegetables? Do you visit the farmer’s market in your town?

Hoophouses & handbaskets

Hoophouses

My school does not have a lot of money so my family helps however we can by donating vegetables for the lunch program. Yesterday I picked green onions, chives, and big, red, aeroponic tomatoes from our hoophouse. I am very excited to bring my vegetables to our cafeteria’s kitchen tomorrow!

Morrie the Electric Truck

May 05

missing post for Morrie the electric truck
Today my dad drove Morrie the electric truck to Madison. I of course went with him
since we do not have school this week! Morrie helped us bring fresh onions, and morels to the public market near Madison’s famous capitol square.

There were lots of farmers from all over Wisconsin at the market. Myles slept next to me on the seat on our trip. He was tired from running up and down the hills with me and Isabel.

Stomping on flowers

May 05

Today my friend Isabel and I crushed, and stepped on dried flowers that we got from the prairie in my backyard. We used our hands to break pods, and dried flowers so we can take the seeds and plant them in our small clay pots. We are growing the pretty flowers now so we can sell them in the summer at the farmer’s market! I want to give my mom and dad the money I got from selling the flowers to help them give money to farmers in Mongolia, and people around the world that need clean water, and help for their store or farm.
